Though Valentine's Day is my least favourite holiday to celebrate, it's a day I try to make the most out of.
I celebrate the day filled with love, but not materialistic love. Huge difference. Media has trained our minds so much to believe that you must buy the flowers, the chocolates, the gifts, and this is the way you show someone you love them. In all honestly, buying flowers that are double and triple the price they usually are is absolutely ridiculous. If you love me at all, you would buy me flowers throughout the year and not just on this one particular day because society tells you that you should. And you would buy me chocolates after the 14th as they go on sale for 50% off! ;)
On the other hand, if you are celebrating it, are you acknowledging love for yourselves and for your loved ones: parents, siblings, family, your girlfriends, your guy friends, just everyone you LOVE? Take the day and just do something special for the people we care about. It doesn't really matter what you do, just do something. I send out Valentine's Day cards to my family and girlfriends. I remember the first time my dad received his a few years ago, my mom said his eyes lit up and he was so happy. That just made my heart so happy!
Tomorrow isn't promised and too often we regret not saying the things we feel until it's too late. Time is not always on our side. So pick up a phone, call your loved ones and make sure they know that they're in your heart.
However you celebrate this holiday, spend it with love. lots and lots of LOVE. Just be happy. And grateful for the life that you have.
Sending you all a little LOVE! Happy Valentine's Day beauties!! | Nikki xo
