If you read my bio – I am a huge chocolate cake addict! And that includes chocolate cupcakes too!
I bought a few of these “cutie cupcakes” from Prairie Girl Bakery to try out different flavours and my sweet little kitty, Symba, decided to get in on the tasting action as well! He tends to follow my fork when there is chocolate cake on it. It’s really bad to give kittens any type of chocolate or sweets as they are unable to digest it, but Symba always manages to lick a little off my finger. I have no idea where he got his love for chocolate from….
When I first came across Prairie Girl cupcakes in the PATH, judging by the beautiful display of cupcakes and mini cupcakes, I knew I was in for a treat! Jack-pot when I got my first cupcake – I was literally in sweet-chocolate-heaven!
The bakers at Prairie Girl bake their cupcakes the old fashioned way using fresh ingredients and never sell “day old” cupcakes. These cupcakes at the end of the day go to Toronto’s Second Harvest for people in need – and everyone needs cupcakes!
There are currently three Prairie Girl Bakery locations in the city: 18 King Street East which faces Victoria Street, First Canadian Place in the PATH and 150 Bloor Street West in Yorkville. But be sure to get there early as come closer to the end of the day, the selection decreases! And if you are a chocolate lover as I am, you need to get there early to get the Chocolate Vanilla Cupcake – it’s DELICIOUS!
Some of the flavours that I have tried are: Vanilla Strawberry, Chocolate Strawberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Banana Peanut Butter, Carrot Cream Cheese, Vanilla Lemon, Vanilla Coconut and last but not least Chocolate Peppermint!!
Now these are only the ones I have actually tasted and LOVE them all, but I have been told that their entire menu is truly tummy-appealing!
If you are in the city and looking for a sweet treat for yourself or for someone special, make sure you check them out EARLY in the day so you can get your pick of cupcake flavours!
